10 things to love about your feet

Summer has shown her face here in the Deep South of the UK, meaning plenty of quality barefoot time for our battered ‘plates of meat’ as we Cockernees always say. Some people are comfortable with their feet as a body part, some are beset by self-foot-loathing, and hide them away all the time so that on the rare occasions their feet are exposed to the world they cringe and shriek in their clammy pallor, like some gloomy cave-dwelling Tolkien character. And no, I’m not making oblique reference to myself (I’m actually thinking of a friend of mine).

Anyway, we pondered here at Runflux, are feet lovable or detestable? Here are 10 things to love about your feet:

  1. How good it feels to run barefoot on a firm, flat beach
  2. How good it feels to run barefoot on soft, springy grass
  3. How good it feels to run barefoot through the water’s edge, where the breaking waves start to slip back to the sea
  4. Having a foot massage
  5. They are an erogenous zone
  6. Feet can get fitter and stronger
  7. You can paint your toenails
  8. They are natural shock-absorbers
  9. You can wear Vibram 5Fingers
  10. They stop your legs from fraying at the bottom

Happy barefooting!
